Chapter eleven – Nico
It’s nearly ten thirty before I hear the deep throaty rumble of the bike as it pulls back into the garage. I’ve been going out of my mind but I know it’s my own fault, I always turn inside myself when there’s something bothering me. Franco wouldn’t let me get away with it, his fiery Italian blood would rise causing us to have some terrific arguments, Troy would run and lock himself away when he first moved in, but by the end he would sit in amusement taunting one or both of us. This would often end up with us either shouting at him or laughing quickly forgetting the argument and the reason it started.
I made my calls and typically Troy picked up on my bad mood and I ended up having to explain the whole day to him.
“Well, I’m not surprised he took off, I would have slapped your face! You don’t just answer to yourself anymore, you are part of a couple and couples tell each other what’s troubling them so that they can work out the answers. You need to be on your knees begging him for forgiveness when he comes home to you.”
Troy’s right, I know he is, but the longer it’s been since Ryan stormed out on that wet dream of a bike, the more worried I become and that makes me pissed at him. But now that he is back the pissed off feelings vanish and I just want to pull him against me and hold him tight in my arms. Well that and fuck him so hard he won’t be able to walk for a week, let alone straddle a motorbike.
He knows how to drag out his entrance; nearly ten minutes are up before he enters the kitchen from the adjoining door. I watch him as his eyes widen in surprise as he sees me sitting on a stool at the island but then he shuts down, all emotion wiped from his face. I don’t think he’s angry anymore but I’m not sure what he’s feeling, I hate this. I hate that I hurt him.
“Ryan, I’m sorry, I hate myself right now.” My hand lets go of the long stemmed wine glass I’ve been sipping from and creeps across the counter reaching tentatively out to him.
“Okay, thanks. I’m all sweaty, I need a shower,” Ryan says, barely making eye contact with me as he speaks.
He walks past me not saying anything else, his finger slide over the granite counter top and skim the very tips of my fingers. So lightly that I’m not even sure if he did touch me or if it was just the heat from his hand I felt. My head drops down as I sigh not sure what to do next.
“You wanna join me?” His low voice travels straight to my groin as my eyes shoot up to meet his, I watch the tip of his tongue slide over his bottom lip before he turns away and heads to the stairs.
